Swift Runner
“The Wendigo”
The story of Swift Runner, the Canadian hunter and trapper who was respected and considered an impressive young man. A competent hunter and handy craftsman, he married and lived well with his young wife and five children. However, the challenges of the harsh Canadian winters and the trickled down availability of the Bison for hunting, would challenge the mind and spirit. How fragile is the human mind? How do the warning tales and folklore influence our reality? It’s a wormhole.

Podcasts I mention In this episode:
ANXIOUS AND AFRAID The Pod is a podcast that covers everything from true crime to the paranormal. We’re interested in ghosts, murders, missing persons, and everything else weird and unexplained.
This most recent summer reading I recommend was:
Mark Bourrie - Peter Woodcock: Canada's Youngest Serial Killer
Peter Woodcock was Canada's youngest serial killer when at the age of seventeen he brutally raped and murdered two boys and a girl between the ages of four and nine. He was never put on trial by "reason of insanity" and instead was confined for 34 years in a criminal psychiatric facility and offered treatment"
You can buy it HERE and HERE, and you can follow him on twitter HERE.
Nate Hendley - The Boy on the Bicycle: A Forgotten Case of Wrongful Conviction
On the night of September 15, 1956, seven-year-old Wayne Mallette, was brutally murdered on the grounds of the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto. The chief suspect was a "boy on a bicycle" seen pedalling away from the CNE.
You can buy it HERE or HERE , or wherever you buy books.
I post those on Instagram and Twitter each Wednesday, if you are looking for some Canadian true crime books this summer.
